Some people say that miracles are impossible. Some people say penguins can’t fly. Some people say that they have seen a music video of Alicia Keys where she isn’t standing playing the piano one handed. I say those some people are wrong. Recently I was talking to a friend about how crazy some ‘coincidences’ are. But thing is, I don’t believe in coincidence. I believe God works in mysterious ways, like everything happens for a reason.
Miracle 1:
I’ll take you back to the good old days of high school. Having spent a night at Gaby’s place we headed off to school the next morning. Naturally, we hadn’t slept a second and so were both dead tired and crazy. Paradox? Anyone who’s been deprived of sleep will answer no. But I digress. So the next morning we are headed to school, with Mr. D. Yu in the driver’s seat, me riding gunner and Jeremy and James in the back. I don’t think there was anyone else. Anyways, as some of you may know, I’m not the biggest fans of Jessica Malbouy (if that is how you spell it) or even in fact Natalie Basaingthwaite (even if I lucked out on Malbouy, I’m pretty sure I bombed that one).
Anyways, so we are driving and one of Jess’ songs pops on the radio so as a joke I pump the volume up and sing along without any of the words. And like most good, bad and other things, they come to an end and so as expected the song soon finishes and high fives are dealt. I’m feeling pretty crazy right now, having not slept for a while and having just shouted out rubbish for about four minutes, so I lean into the radio and talking loudly say, and I quote verbatim,
I: Excuse me Mr. Radio, can we please have some more Jessica Maulboy?
I flick the station, still smiling at how stupid the whole trip had been, and lo and behold, Jess (yeah I know, it is pretty creepy when I call her jess) starts singing again. Coincidence? I don’t believe in coincidence. You can ask any of the people in the car about it, we were all witnesses.
Miracle 2:
The other day I went to get a biscuit of the delta cream variety (Arnott’s version of the Oreo) and I put my hand into the container and pulled one out. That’s when I noticed the most amazing thing to happen in 2010 yet. It only had one side. It is the dream. Just one side of the cookie plus the white cream on it. It’s like when you twist an Oreo and you get one side with cream and you look at the other side and are left thinking where your dog is. OK the other side isn’t that bad, but I mean it’s everyone’s dream to have one sided cookies. It was awesome. True story. I don’t have any backup on this story so you’ll just have to trust me, cos I didn’t even tell my dog this one cos she would’ve been pretty devastated because normally we split our cookies. She doesn’t like the side with the cream. Or at least I assume so.
And of course there are the other miracles of life, love and Soulja Boy’s success. Anyways, I have more minor miracles to share with you, but the hour is late, and the first light of the sun draws near and my butt is hurting. So I shall conclude this post some other time. Hence the official title of this post is in fact Miracle – The Beginning.
