posted on 14.10.10 Some ramblings.

OK so I’m struggling again with this whole blogging business.  I mean there are so many things that when they happen I go  ‘I’m blogging that’  and then never get round to it.  Must be the weather.  Can blame pretty much everything on the weather.  Except for maybe the HomoGoblins’ losses.  Studies show that seems to happen regardless of anything.  It is indeed a mystery, and so to find out more on why it does happen, we consulted spiritual leader and all round good guy, Bryan Tran, on the matter.  He said that it was a result of poor communication in parts, the high level of competition and the fiery spirit that  has yet to be tamed within the team.  Most people believe that it is just poor basketball.  It was then decided that Bryan will no longer be consulted on such matters, or anything at all.

Anyways, so over the last couple of weeks, the Commonwealth games have been running, and it has been great to have a constant input of sport on the television machine.  I love having that backup option so that when I flick through all the channels and realise that nothing is on, I know there is something to keep me occupied whilst I eat my cookies and cream ice cream.  And what’s even better is watching Australia win everything.  Awesome.  And of course there are the absolute fairytale hero stories, such as Geoff Huegill and some other guys.  Like Brenton Rickard.  That guy is a legend.  No joke, one of my new favourite swimmers after the Beijing Olympics.  He just does his thing, noone expects anything from him, and just sneaks in quietly to grab a lazy Silver medal in the breaststroke.  Upgrade to legendary status is now complete.  But back to Mr. Geoffrey Huegill.  What a champ.  Lost like a billion kilograms in about 0.567 nanoseconds, because one day he decided he wanted to be an Olympic swimmer again.  Why not.  The phrase “Still got it” has never been more aptly used.

Speaking of sport, the HSC has just begun and it’s pretty crazy that it’s already been a year since we sat it ourselves.  Time goes very fast.  What is possibly weirder than the fact that I will be reapplying so soon for uni is the fact that many of the kids I am tutoring right now will be in my grade at uni and I will be studying with a few of them hopefully.  Interesting.

This weather is so wack.  It seems to follow the pattern of following no pattern whatsoever.  In fact the weather is being so discourteous that it feels so arrogant to not follow even the weather(wo)man.  Quite poor in fact.  But I suppose everything seems to work out and in the end the cancelled cricket trainings have only been on Tuesday, which has allowed me to view the BABS! team in action.  I would say full flight, but I think the players themselves would agree with me that the flight has been quite hampered and unpleasant, similar to that of a goose with a broken wing.  and neck and back.  But I know that they are all quality players, and with better passing and more cuts being run by the support players, they will son to resemble more of a seagull on spotting a little girl tripping on the beach and spilling all her chips everywhere.  I hope I am there to witness this moment.

Cricket has been really fun recently, and I think this is a combination of both wining both of our games to start the season, and me playing well personally.  Some of my friends at cricket have asked me quite a few times already ‘when is your friends/fan group/fairfax group going to be coming around again?’  They seemed to really enjoy the fact that so many of you guys came, as of course I did very much.  I find it amazing how many of you sat through that even though some of you guys hate cricket and just watched that game anyways.  I will always remember that and appreciate it one million billion.  If only I had played well.  Oh well, that’s the way the caramel crumble crumbles I suppose.

My interviews are around a week or two after most of you guys finish your finals, and so we can hang foreverz after that.  Ball til we drop errday and so on and so forth.  One thing that we can hopefully do this end of year break is road trip.  Not sure how we can get the cars and whatever, but it’d be cool to have one.  I have a midseason break (All Star break as I like to call it) near Christmas and New Year’s Day, so hopefully we can squeeze something in then.  Who knows, but if we do end up doing this, it’ll be super sweet.  We can watch Remember the Titans every night, and Mr. Deeds, and all Adam Sandler movies, and the whole LOTR trilogy and just everything.  Speaking of awesome movies, Armageddon is on tonight.  What a great movie that is.  Absolute classic.  Please noone tell me that you haven’t seen it, and if this is the case, please pretend that you have and watch it tonight at 8 30pm.  So, so sad, and also gave birth to a great song “I don’t want to miss a thing” byt the mad band Aerosmith.  Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler.  And a great cast of extras.  Quality all round.

Also, something I’ve been thinking about.  The Hail Mary play.  It is the one on Madden ‘06 where all your wingers run straight up the field and you just lob it straight into the end zone with Tom Brady and score the touchdown.  But what if you were to apply this to life.  I suppose really, it’s just a get out jail plan and really you haven’t deserved what you want, but it does work occasionally and makes everything awesome.  Actually, I think it’s wrong to say that you haven’t deserved it, rather sometimes you aren’t in a position to get it.  Sometimes things are just out of reach and it seems that there’s no way you can get to them, but I think you just need the Hail Mary play.

I think when you know when what someone wants real bad, needs real bad, but is stuck and can’t get it, that’s when you know you’re tight.  Sometimes I wonder what everyone’s greatest desire and secret is, and whether everyone even has one.  Whatever it is, there is a play out there, I reckon, where you can get it.  Of course I don’t know what the play is, but maybe one day we’ll all find our Hail Mary play, and I just hope that when that moment comes, we have the courage to through that pass.

I’ll see you guys around soon hopefully, and I know that I say that every time but I honestly mean it, cos it’s always good to see friends.  Just makes everyone happy I reckon.  Laters homies.
